King’s Volunteers is always looking for enthusiastic, able people who want to make a difference to the lives of others while improving their own skills. If you are over 16, good at mixing with people, enjoy helping others and would like to develop your own skills as an individual, we would like to hear from you. For more details of the scheme, please click here.
As a volunteer, you might do anything from meeting and greeting patients and relatives as they enter the hospital, helping them find their destinations, to sitting with a patient and holding their hand as they undergo day surgery, or even working in one of the administrative areas of the hospital. We match your availability and preferences with the needs and opportunities of the hospital to find the right volunteering placement for you. If you think you already know what you’d like to do with us – whether that is working in a particular area, or using a particular skill you have – we’re also very keen to work with you to make it happen.
If you volunteer with us, we will provide you with extensive support. From the training we provide at the start of your time with us, through the local support you are given in your role to the review meetings that ensure you are in the right placement for you, we work to make sure that everyone has the support they need to make the best difference they can.
We generally ask that all volunteers commit at least three hours a week for a minimum of 12 months, to ensure that we can create long-lasting and meaningful roles for them.
To apply, please click on the "Apply online now" button below and then complete the online application form; you should then hear from us within five working days. We use these forms to decide who to invite to Recruitment Events, the final stage in our recruitment process. We very much look forward to receiving your application. |
The postholder will have regular contact with patients and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions. |
