Are you interested in the exciting opportunity of becoming a Band 6 scrub nurse in our Day Surgery Unit? Would you like to be part of our dynamic and dedicated team at the Queen Mary’s Hospital Sidcup, part of Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust? If so, this may be just for you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced registered nurse or ODP to lead an experienced scrub team. Newlands Day Case Unit comprises of two elective theatre suites, which care for a variety of elective ophthalmic and maxillo-facial patients of diverse origin and care needs.

We are keen to hear from applicants who are dynamic, flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic about providing excellent patient care whilst developing a workforce fit for the future. Previous theatre experience is essential as well as, anaesthetic experience; and we would welcome applications from those with ophthalmic scrub experience. You will have the motivation, vision and leadership qualities necessary to lead a successful theatre team. As a key member of the senior team, you will deliver high standards of perioperative care, and have the ability to support and develop theatre practitioners to facilitate excellent patient care in the operating theatres.

You must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with a proven record within the Ophthalmic & maxillio-facial perioperative speciality.

In return we will offer you the ability to advance your skills and aim to provide you with a high standard of training both in the clinical area through our Practice Development Team and through our Kings Partners higher education institutions.

We offer excellent educational opportunities from in-house study courses to post graduate education through Kings College London. 

You must have achieved your mentorship course and a recognised specialist theatre nursing course, anaesthetic course or a critical care course is desirable. 

We operate 5 days a week Mon-Friday, 8am -6.00pm.

This is a full time post which is subject to internal rotation to the Princess Royal Day Surgery Unit.
