Junior Clinical Fellow
Junior Clinical Fellow - Orpington Neurosciences Centre– Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit, Ontario 2b Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit and Neuro-Surgical Acute Step-Down Unit.
Applications are invited for Junior Clinical Fellow posts to join our team at the Bromley sites of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
King’s is a major Teaching Hospital with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. 2013-14 was a year of significant workforce growth and organisational change as King’s acquired new sites, services and people from Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), Orpington Hospital, and associated services in South East London. King’s is a regional Neurosciences Centre and a Centre of Excellence in Neurological Medicine and a Major Trauma Centre as well.
This post will be based in Orpington Neurosciences Centre, the 2b Neuro-rehabilitation Unit and Frank Cooksey Neuro-surgical Step-Down Unit. The new 2b Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit was recently opened in Orpington Hospital in July 2016. The key aim of Ontario 2b is to offer specialist active rehabilitation to patients with neurological needs, to assist them in achieving physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing, facilitating family, vocational and community engagement. The ward currently has 20 inpatient beds, 14 beds are secured for 2b Neurological Care and 6 further beds for Neuro-surgical Step Down patients.
The Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist neurological rehabilitation in a 15 bedded unit. It was recently relocated to a dedicated fully refurbished ward in Orpington Hospital. In this unit complex physical and cognitive rehabilitation is provided to patients who suffered a stroke, traumatic brain injury, polyneuropathy, myopathy, spinal cord injury, or relapse of progressive neurological disease.
Within this role, the successful applicant will work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams led by a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and a Consultant Neurologist to support the day to day running of the Neuro-Rehabilitation 2B and Step-Down unit.
This post would be suitable for candidates who have completed their ST1/ST2/SHO level (or equivalent), and wish to gain specific experience and training in Neurology or Rehabilitation medicine, perhaps with a view to pursuing related ST3 training.
Although these appointments are not accredited for training, the appointees will have the opportunity to participate in the educational and training programs at the Denmark Hill and/or PRUH sites. Appointees will have a named educational supervisor.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
