This is a combined VR/MR fellowship post in Ophthalmology King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a major UK Teaching Hospital with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. We are part of the UK’s largest Academic Health Sciences Centre, and Europe’s largest medical school. King’s College Hospital has an enviable track record in research and development and service innovation. In partnership with King’s College London the Trust has recently been awarded a National Research Centre in Patient Safety and Service Quality. It is also a partner in two National Institute for Health Research biomedical research centres. King’s Health Partners is a pioneering collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts. This unique combination brings together one of the world’s leading research-led universities and three of London’s most successful NHS Foundation Trusts. This is a full-time clinical post, based at Denmark Hill, King’s College Hospital, and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup working within a multi–disciplinary team to provide elective and emergency care for ophthalmology patients within the vitreoretinal and medical retinal services. Tenure of the post is for 12 months. This is an ideal post for senior trainees who already have basic subspecialty training in VR and MR and are seeking to increase and broaden their experience. The post-holder will have regular access to dedicated theatre lists. Applicants must have MRCOphth or equivalent, be eligible for full or limited registration with the GMC at the time of appointment, and be eligible to work in England. Applicants must be proficient in undertaking cataract surgery independently and should have prior surgical experience of paediatric surgery.
