**** JOB OPPORTUNITY ****

SENIOR CLINICAL PHARMACIST, SPECIALIST Surgery and Pre-assessment

Fixed term for 6 months

The Clinical Pharmacy Service at King’s is highly respected across the Trust and our staff work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to advance patient care. We are patient-centred, research-oriented, progressive and innovative department. We work alongside senior managers and clinicians to provide comprehensive directorate services.

The surgical directorate at King’s offers secondary and tertiary care to patients across SE London and South East England. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist to join our well established surgical team. The successful candidate will lead on delivering support to the surgical division with particular emphasis on the pre-assessment and elective service across the Trust and the further development of a patient focused medicines optimisation service to surgical patients. The post holder will work closely with the pharmacy team leader, clinicians and nurses in developing the clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical division and providing patient care to this broad group of patients. Although initially fixed term for 6 months the expectation is if the post delivers on key performance indicators the division will fund a substantive post.

One of the key elements of this role is to develop a new pharmacy led service to the Coptcoat admissions lounge in line with the Trust objectives and GIRFT agenda for general surgery. The development of this post is an exciting opportunity for an independent prescriber to work closely with clinicians in the continued development of patient pathways such as enhanced recovery to support the Trust in achieving significant reductions in length of stay and mortality following both elective and emergency surgery.

This post provides many opportunities for personal and professional development, both clinically and managerially, as you will also be expected to deputise for the pharmacy team leader. The successful applicant will be expected to be a team player with significant clinical experience, excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Clinical experience in surgery is essential.

Closing date: 22nd September 2019
