Paediatric Clinical Fellow (ST4+/Registrar equivalent) in Paediatric Emergency Medicine with sub-specialty interest in Paediatric Trauma, Paediatric Ambulatory Care or Simulation
1 x 6 month post (starting in March 2019)
Applications are invited for one six month post in Paediatric Emergency Medicine with a special interest in Paediatric Trauma, Paediatric Ambulatory Care or Simulation at ST4+/Registrar equivalent level. The successful candidate will be released on 1 day a week for non-clinical activities related to their special interest.
The post is part of the Trust’s strategy to improve emergency care for children and to strengthen the working relationship between Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine. This post is suitable for an experienced doctor interested in a career in Paediatrics or in Emergency Medicine with a Paediatric Subspecialty interest.
The successful applicant will be based in the Paediatric Emergency Department. They will work alongside the Emergency Medicine registrar, Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultant team, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and other junior doctors covering this area. He/she will have responsibility for direct patient care in the children’s area of the department. They will support and supervise the junior paediatric doctors as well as emergency department junior doctors working in the PED. Consultant support is provided by the Emergency Department Consultants, the Paediatric Short Stay Unit Consultant and the Paediatric Consultant of the Week. The post holder will be jointly responsible in their day to day work to the Paediatric Consultant on-call and the duty Emergency Consultant.
There are opportunities for audit and research projects across Child Health and Emergency Medicine and participating in these is widely encouraged in the department. There is an active consultant delivered multi-disciplinary teaching programme and ample opportunity to take part in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare professionals.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
