Consultant Physician, Respiratory and General Medicine

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Department of Respiratory Medicine

From £80,075 - £107,204 p.a incl. of London Zone Allowance

Full Time - 10 PAs

Permanent

King’s College Hospital has an opportunity to join our innovative Respiratory Medicine department.

There are 2 roles available. The post based primarily on the Denmark Hill Campus but working in connection with department colleagues at the Princess Royal University Hospital will provide a clinical role in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with lung cancer in addition to contributing to the general internal medicine inpatient service.

The successful candidate will work with an MDT to provide high quality care and will be expected to constantly seek to improve and refine the service in line with the ambition to deliver a cross-site international standard service at KHP.

The second post will be based primarily at the Princess Royal University Hospital. It is envisaged this will be mainly to support the lung cancer services on that site, but other sub-speciality interests can be considered.

The appointees will participate in both the medical and respiratory on-call rotas and will be responsible for the continuing care of patients admitted as emergencies, in addition to contributing to bronchoscopy and pleural lists. As a consultant in a major teaching hospital, the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education. The development of relevant research interests will be encouraged, and opportunities will be enhanced by the Academic Health Sciences Centre.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

Closing Date: 18/12/2018, midnight.

AAC Interview Date: 18/01/2019.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
