We are looking for a highly enthusiastic Highly Specialist Echocardiographer to lead our internationally recognised echocardiography services at Kings College Hospital.

This is a key post in the division to lead and manage the Echocardiography team, to deliver and improve patient pathways and experience and to assist the Principal Cardiac Physiologist to deliver on quality performance standards.
The cardiac non-invasive diagnostic department performs over 30,000 non-invasive procedures per annum. The Echo department features the latest cardiac ultrasound equipment in an all-encompassing digital echo lab. It provides transthoracic, TOE, 3-D, DSE and stress exercise echo and contrast studies for all specialties in the Trust. Kings College Hospital is a renowned research institution and encourages participation in new and on-going projects. In addition, our Cardiac Catheter labs perform complex electrophysiology studies, complex device implants, advanced coronary interventional procedures, including TAVIs, MitraClip, PFO/ ASD/ LAA device closure and primary angioplasty.
Applicants should demonstrate a high level of clinical and technical expertise in Echocardiography. Clinical Physiology BSc degree combined with appropriate technical training and Echocardiography accreditation (BSE, EACVI or equivalent) are mandatory for this position. Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate competence and expertise in the full range of advanced echocardiography techniques (TOE, Stress echo, 3D and contrast echo).
Applicants must be highly self-motivated, well organized, flexible and reliable. They should demonstrate a good understanding of issues pertinent to the education of echocardiography and be enthusiastic to both teach and learn new professional clinical skills within the field of echocardiography.
In addition to the relevant formal qualifications required for this post; proven experience of strong leadership and team management skills required to support the maintenance of a highly active service are seen as essential.
The successful candidate will be supported fully by Professor Monaghan, Director of Non Invasive Cardiology Diagnostics and the Principal Cardiac Physiologist to enable development of Echocardiography service provision and staff training.
