Clinical Fellow (ST4+/Registrar equivalent) in General Paediatrics
1 x post commencing March 2019– 6 months with opportunity to extend
Applications are invited for 1 Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics at ST4+/Registrar equivalent level for 6 months in the first instance. To be extended for a further 6 months subject to mutual agreement. The post would suit a doctor interested in advancing their general paediatric training in a teaching hospital environment. It provides excellent clinical experience for a doctor hoping to enter the paediatric training programme at ST4 level but is also ideal for those at the end of their training wanting to consolidate knowledge/skills before applying for consultancy. There may be an opportunity to develop a particular interest in the sub-specialty fields of Endocrinology and Neurology.
The successful applicant will take full part in the middle-grade acute general paediatric duty rota. General Paediatric duties include shifts covering the Paediatric Emergency department and in-patient management of all admitted paediatric patients as part of a large general paediatric team. The post provides excellent clinical exposure to a wide range of clinical conditions. There is also ample opportunity to attend outpatient clinics.
The department has an excellent middle grade teaching programme and trainees are encouraged to get involved in audit and quality improvement projects. Kings has an outstanding success rate for trainees who undertake the MRCPCH Clinical exam.
Although this appointment is not accredited for training, the appointee will participate fully in the educational and training programme within the department and the hospital. Appointees will have a named educational supervisor and regular appraisal.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
