We are seeking to make one substantive appointment  to  the post of  Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine based at the Department of Child Health in the Variety Children’s Hospital at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCH NHS FT). 

King’s College Hospital is a major London teaching hospital which has many tertiary paediatric specialist services and also provides general paediatric services for a large multi-ethnic inner city population.  KCHFT is part of London’s most comprehensive Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) (King’s Health Partners), along with King’s College London and Guys and St Thomas’ and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts.

The post provide exciting opportunities to join a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team with three other friendly and enthusiastic respiratory paediatricians at a regional paediatric respiratory and cystic fibrosis centre serving south London and the Southeast. The post-holder will work primarily within the Paediatric Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis Centre at KCH NHS FT.

The successful applicant should be fully accredited in Paediatrics with sub-specialty in respiratory Paediatrics and have wide experience in all aspects of paediatric respiratory medicine.  King’s provides excellent training for one grid trainee in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (PRM) on the London rotation and for a middle grade clinical fellow in PRM. There would be a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with over 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 13,000 staff based across five main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years), therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
