Team Lead Occupational Therapist – Acute Medicine

Emergency Department & Acute Medical Unit

Band 7, 37.5 hours a week - Permanent Contract

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals, with a unique profile of strong local services and a focused set of specialist services. The Trust has over 11000 staff and a budget in excess of £500 million and continues to be at the forefront of medical progress and innovation.

We are part of a Department with 300+ staff across Occupational Therapy (OT), Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. Each service is organised under a Head of Profession with a Chief of Therapies heading up the services and representing Therapies across the Trust.

Do you have proven skills in the management of complex older patients with acute and rehabilitation needs? We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a band 7 OT Team Lead based across the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units. The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive, fast paced learning environment created by the multi-disciplinary team. The patient caseload is varied, with a mix of patients with acute needs. Multi-disciplinary working is well established across the team and we are looking for an enthusiastic occupational therapist to influence the further development of occupational therapy within these clinical areas.

There will be the opportunity to lead on teaching and support the development of members of the MDT, as well as junior OT staff and students. Working in a department, which offers a wide range of experience, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching, and managerial skills as well as contribute towards service development. This post has access to funds to attend external training with up to 10 x days study leave available pro rata, as well as access to a comprehensive library and computer facilities on site.

The post holder requires a flexible approach to working, including cross sites and needs to be able to undertake weekend working commitments as part of a 7 day working rota.

You must have a degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered.
