Clinical Practice Facilitator- Neurosciences –

We have developed a new role of Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) for each of our wards to work in conjunction with the Practice Development Nurse and Ward Managers to develop junior nursing and HCA staff and to support them in their role. You would be expected to participate in a rota comprising of clinical Band 6 shifts and CPF shifts working a combination of unsocial hours and day shifts.
This exciting role is aimed at existing Band 6 or Senior Band 5’s who have a natural gift for teaching and supporting junior staff. Working with the Ward manager and Practice Development Nurse, you will develop innovative education and training whilst maintaining and developing your own skills.
The state of the art clinical and academic campus at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides the most innovative care backed by pioneering research. We are supported by state of the art theatres, five Intensive Care Units and the trauma helipad.
Our tertiary Neurosciences wards provide care for patients from all over the UK, London and Kent. We perform 3000 neurosurgical operations a year and you will experience the very best in tertiary Neuroscience. You will be well supported by a highly visible senior nursing team, practice development nurses and clinical nurse specialists.
All newly qualified band 5's enter the King’s Foundation in Neuroscience course accredited 30 points at level 6 or 7 with King’s College London University and the Institute of Neuroscience at King’s Health Partners. This also involves teaching, study time and a rotation through the eight Neurosurgery, Neuromedicine, hyper acute stroke, Neuro HDU and rehab wards as well as a well-known excellent preceptorship programme. Experienced Band 5's complete mentorship and the post graduate Neuroscience Nursing Modules. All staff have a mentor and practice development nurse who support you to achieve your career development.
Band 6 Junior Sisters/ Charge Nurses are supported to undertake BSc and MSc programmes as well as leadership and career development to deputy ward manager positions.

We currently have opportunities for a Clinical Practice Facilitator to work alongside new starters and support their learning in the elective Neuroscience Ward environment.
Murray Faulkner ward is an elective Neurosurgery 'clean' ward (31 beds), with two post-operative high dependency bays and four beds or neuro-telemetry

Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 11th June and will consist of a medicines test and interview.
