Junior Sister/Charge Nurse – Neurosciences, Charles Pokey Ward

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse (band 6) position within Neurosciences on Charles Polkey Ward.

Charles Pokey ward is one of 8 Neuroscience wards within the Neuroscience unit at Kings. It is the newest ward within the unit having opened in June 2017. Predominantly a Neurology ward but Charles Polkey also looks after Neurosurgical patients. The ward has a full complement of nurses that are eager to be empowered and to continue to develop their skills within the speciality working alongside a dynamic Ward Manager and great team of band 6 nurses.

The post holder will be passionate about high standards of care, a team player with excellent communication, negotiating and teaching skills.  We value nursing leaders who are committed to ensuring care and compassion are at the centre of their patient’s experience, leaders who uphold a high level of competence in both managerial and clinical skills, and nursing leaders who have the courage to promote change and challenge concerns that they may face.

You will be supported in this role by a team of matrons, the ward manager and  The Head of Nursing, Clinical Directors, clinical nurse specialists and nurse consultants who work closely to promote a forward focused trust who values its nursing staff, invests in their education and is a leader in the academic health science group KHP and institute of neurosciences.

If the challenge of revolutionary change within neuroscience nursing sounds like an appealing adventure then we would welcome your application. We would be excited to help promote your own learning and education as we strive to create a well-developed, forward thinking nursing workforce.

An informal visit is strongly recommended and any applicants are welcome to come for a walk around our vibrant modern department. Come see for yourself how amazing it is.

Interviews will aim to take place end of May/start of June 2018.
