The Division of Urgent Care, Planned Care and Allied Clinical Services are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals with a flexible and professional approach who can consistently provide high quality operational support. The individuals will be well supported by the Ward Admin Team Leaders and Admin Services Manager.

We are recruiting several ward administrators to cover either short days or long days in the Medicine department. The following posts are available:

  • 1 x full-time short day post
  • 1x full-time long day post

You can apply either for short days or long days.

Short day: 37.5 hrs per week Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (short day)

Long day: 13 long day shifts (Monday-Sunday 8 am to 8.30 pm) per 4 week rota period; the service covers 365 days a year so weekend and bank holiday working is a requirement

You will provide a high quality administrative and clerical support to the nursing and medical staff on the wards (see detailed duties in JD) and will generally assist the Ward Manager to ensure the smooth running of the ward. You will be the first point of contact on the ward for patients, staff and visitors and you will be required to wear a uniform. This role is essential to ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their stay. You will have an excellent understanding of and currently be successful in meeting the needs and demands of working with the general public whilst remaining calm under pressure.

Previous NHS administrative and customer care experience within a hospital environment is advantageous; however experience in a customer-facing role within other businesses in the public sector may suffice. You will be a well-organised team-player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess a polite and helpful telephone manner.
