Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner Scrub
King’s College Hospital is a teaching hospital with tertiary services which attract national and international referrals. It supports an active programme of clinical and basic science support and undergraduate and postgraduate education. The Liver Unit at King’s has the largest adult and paediatric liver transplant programme in Europe. The programme had been in inception since 1989 and now carries out 200 liver transplants per annum which include living related liver transplants. We also have a paediatric small bowel transplant programme.
We currently have vacancies for Band 6 Operating Theatre Practitioner, and are inviting applications from applicants who have theatre experience in major and vascular surgery.
The successful candidate will be expected to deputise and represent the Liver Theatre in various departmental forums for the Senior Sister, teaching and training the junior staff, be actively involved in co-ordinating surgical lists with the multi disciplinary teams, organise and participate in the on-call rota, scrubbing for liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery and laparoscopic surgery. You are expected to be part of the NORs Team for multi organ retrievals in scrubbing and as an Operating Perfusion Practitioner.
The Trust is actively committed to the personal and professional development of its staff, including research, and you will be supported and encouraged to access opportunities to expand your competency and skills. Other staff benefits include an on-site nursery, store discounts, complementary therapies clinic, a credit union scheme and staff clinics for physio and travel vaccinations.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
