Kings College Hospital is a large teaching hospital at the forefront of academic and nursing excellence. The Emergency Department (ED) is one of the busiest in London, and sees approximately 145,000 patients per year including 31,500 children and young people.

As a Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for South East London and Kent, the ED receives patients from two ambulance services and two different air ambulance providers. It is also a regional centre for Hyper Acute Stroke and primary angioplasty. Our ED now has a co-located Urgent Care Centre (UCC) staffed with designated ENPs/ ECPs, GPs, Nurses and HCAs.

We provide care to patients from a diverse inner-city population and believe that the diversity of the local population is reflected in our staff and recruitment strategy.

We are committed to developing our nursing staff and we have strong links with King’s College London, London South Bank University and University of Greenwich. We also have an ED dedicated Practice Development Team across the adult and children’s areas and we are able to offer in house support and training. There is Trust funding to support Degree and Masters level postgraduate education which can be applied for through the Educational Training Department. In addition, we have a number of resuscitation courses on offer including; ILS, ALS, APLS, ATNC and variety of simulation based training courses. We have an established Trauma Nurse Coordinator (TNC) team who are based in the ED who manage and plan care for trauma patients through their entire hospital stay.

As part of an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) we also have a dedicated research nursing team working in the ED.

Why not become part of the team delivering excellent care?

We are looking for motivated, ENPs/ECPs Band 7 with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication, management and leadership skills who are able to demonstrate suitability and experience to join the Urgent Care team located at King’s College Hospital.

The UCC is open 24 hours per day, 365 days a year and staffed by a team of ENPs/ECPs working with GPs to deliver high quality care. You will be required to demonstrate strong leadership skills and help drive the team forward. We have an ever increasing scope of practice and treat both adults and children with a wide range of presentations. You will be required to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team autonomously as well as stream, triage and work with our UCC coordinator.

We are committed to on-going professional development opportunities and will offer you clinical support and training as well as the opportunity to develop your career and scope of practice.
