King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 12,600 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

The Liver Research team at the Institute of Liver Studies in Kings College Hospital has an extensive portfolio covering a range of studies from observational cohort studies to interventional (phase 1-3) trials for various liver diseases; and has developed a reputation for excellence in research delivery. We are seeking to appoint a clinician to act as a clinical trials physician and member of the clinical research group. They will work on general hepatology and hepatitis trials; and support the research team in delivering both commercial and non-commercial projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an interest in clinical research; with an opportunity to work towards an MD. The post holder must be able to demonstrate some previous experience in research and show evidence of ability to develop personal research projects.

The successful candidate will also be required to fulfil clinical commitments within King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; and may be required to contribute to the on-call rota. Due to the increasing early phase portfolio, the role requires that the clinical trials fellow demonstrates a willingness to work flexible hours; and across sites – as some of our early phase studies are being delivered at the King's Health Partners BRC clinical trials facility at Guys Hospital.

This will suit an individual with minimum experience at SM3 /SM4, with an interest in specialising in liver disease.

The appointment is for 12 months, in the first instance; and will be based at Denmark Hill.
