A permanent full-time Finance Manager role has arisen within the Financial Management team. The role will be supporting the Senior Finance Managers for the Networked Services division and clinical services through a significant period of change and at a financially challenged time. 

You will have excellent technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders – including clinicians, managers and other finance colleagues. This is not a role for maintaining the status quo. We are looking for someone who will champion best practice, look for ways we can continuously improve and relish the challenge of working as part of a close team to drive financial performance across this large and complex Trust. 

The Finance Manager as a part of the Division’s Management Team is responsible for producing reports, projections and analysis for a large and complex Division within the Trust. There is a significant time commitment involved in meeting budget holders and generating ‘intelligence’ to support the forecasting and the business planning process. The post holder will take the lead in setting up new reports or reviewing existing reporting standards and in inducting and providing on-going training and support to budget holders and other key staff. 

The number and diversity of reports produced means that priority setting will be important in ensuring that trends or problems are fully investigated and understood each month. Use of spreadsheet analysis will often be required to communicate changes & trends to budget holders and the ability to develop new models and reports is an essential skill. Also important is the ability to manage communications with a wide range of people and professions. 

The Finance Manager will be the main point of reference for budget holders in ensuring that the Trust Standing Financial Instructions are communicated and understood. 

The Finance Manager is responsible for one to three staff and must ensure that they have annual appraisals and personal development plans in accordance with Trust policy and is expected to take an active interest in the development of his/her skills, experience & career and to assist their reporting staff to do the same. 

We are looking for a part or fully qualified accountant with experience of managing teams within a complex and changing environment. This could be from either the NHS or another sector. In person, you will be a bright, versatile and customer focused team player
