King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit locum consultants in Emergency Medicine who will be based at its Denmark Hill site. We have secured authorisation to expand our team and will be making substantive new appointments in 2019.
King’s College Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for SE London, Kent and Medway supported by our Helipad, a Cardiac Arrest Centre, Arrhythmia Centre and a Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit. The resuscitation area can accommodate up to 10 patients and a CT scanner is co-located adjacent to the ED. Our Paediatric Emergency Department has also undergone a recent renovation and is supported by a paediatric CDU.
We are about to open a new layout to facilitate assessment of ambulance arrivals and ambulatory patients in separate areas with 5 cubicles each and their own allocated teams. These two assessment areas will continue to be supported by a 15 cubicle majors area and CDU comprising 16 spaces.
As such we are looking for enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultants with expertise in all aspects of Emergency Care. You will be responsible, along with the other consultants, in maintaining and developing the high standard of care we provide to our patients.
These locum posts will contribute the out of hours rota for the Emergency Department. Our major trauma team leadership rota at KCH is currently under review. The outcomes of that review are not finalised at this time, but will be when we appoint substantively and we anticipate that our substantive new colleagues will be invited to join the trauma rota.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
