Hours: Part time – 3 days a week (22.5 hours)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious dental therapist with good interpersonal and clinical skills, to join the Kings College Hospital Community Special Care Dental Service, covering the Merton, Sutton and Croydon area. This post will be based at the Edridge Road and Thornton Heath clinics in Croydon
This is a part time post, working 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at present. We are commissioned to provide services on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Once this is implemented , there will be a requirement for the postholder to be involved in the provision of these extended hours.
Applicants should have current or recent experience of working in a primary care dental service, and have demonstrable skills in the clinical care of both children and adults who require special care.
Our patients will have a variety of needs, including physical and sensory disabilities, medically complex conditions, learning disabilities, autism, severe mental health conditions. We also provide care for young children who are pre cooperative or have limited cooperation.
Experience of domiciliary dentistry and oral health promotion is desirable. Candidates who have worked in General Dental Services who have an interest in Special Care will also be considered.
Working as part of a team, this post will suit a dental therapist who is committed to providing a high standard of oral health care and who understand the challenges of working with this caseload. The role may include the provision of domiciliary care and may also include oral health promotion. The post holder will be required to travel across the service area as part of the duties of the role.
A recognised Dental Therapy qualification, full registration with the GDC as a Dental Therapist , and membership of a defence organisation are essential for this post.
Candidates will not be short-listed unless their application provides evidence of how they meet the essential competencies listed in the Person Specification.
