Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who are interested in working in the specialist field of neuropathology.

This busy but friendly Department provides a diagnostic service for the regional neuroscience centre on neurosurgical, neurological and psychiatric specimens; is a referral centre, is involved in research investigations and has UKAS ISO15189 accreditation. It also provides a clinical diagnostic service for the MRC London Neurodegenerative Diseases Brain Bank at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. Because of this work a wide range of CNS and PNS specimens are handled including muscle, nerve and pituitary biopsies.

You will be expected to have experience of, and be skilled in, a wide range of histological techniques. Previous experience in neuro-histology, although not essential, would be a distinct advantage.

Further education and professional development which supports this service is actively encouraged.
