King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in South East London is a large teaching hospital and is at the forefront of academic and nursing excellence. We are looking to recruit experienced Band 5 Nurses for Children Surgical Ward in the Variety Children’s Hospital at Kings
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a diverse team on a 21 bedded Surgical Ward with specialist interest in General Surgery and Neurosurgery. The Unit comprises 10 Neurosurgical beds and 11 General Surgery beds. We treat a wide range of Neurosurgical associated illnesses and are the regional Centre for the care of children with neurosurgical conditions and national referral system for Epilepsy surgery and have 2 Neuro rehabilitation beds. The General Surgery Unit has mixed general surgical conditions including Plastics, Trauma, Orthopaedic and Short Gut Syndrome. As an experienced Band 5 Nurse on the General Surgical Unit, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Paediatric Pre-assessment Clinic Team.
The ward has strong relationships with the clinical nurse specialist and in house PDN support. The nursing team is skilled to deliver exceptional standard of care to highly dependent children and their families. We receive elective/planned admissions and acute patients directly from the emergency department. We have established links with both the Children’s Community Nursing Teams as well as a unique “Paediatric Hospital @ Home” service offering ongoing care and treatment in the Child’s home.
As an experienced Band 5 Nurse, you will work closely with ward manager and the multidisciplinary team in developing this specialty through innovative and forward thinking ways. This exciting opportunity requires a children’s nurse with some experience to work as part of a team of dedicated nurses providing high standard care to children and young people requiring surgical interventions.
You must be a registered children’s nurse with clinical experience within a comparable Paediatric setting. You will have good communication and clinical skills and be able to work independently and also as part of a team. In return you can expect excellent support and encouragement for personal and professional development.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
