An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join Victoria and Albert ward as a junior sister / charge nurse. Victoria and Albert ward is an eighteen bedded fast paced cardiothoracic ward that works closely with the High Dependency Unit and Cardiac Recovery Unit. The ward cares for a variety of patients with complex needs pre and post cardiothoracic surgery as well as providing care for cardiology patients.
This is an ideal opportunity for a senior band 5 looking to develop leadership and management skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the ward manager. You will be responsible for maintaining standards and quality in the day to day management of the unit, providing expert clinical support and supporting the development of the junior members of staff.
Kings College Hospital provides tertiary cardiac care and receives cardio-thoracic patients from across the South East, as part of Kings Health Partners we work closely with partner organisations and work together to form the cardiovascular network transforming cardiovascular services across the region.
We are committed to staff development and education with all staff having access to a wide range of educational and development resources. The practice education team support staff in the clinical area and each new staff member will have an individualised training and development plan, further academic study opportunities are available to staff at King’s with our partner higher education institutions
We would welcome applications from individuals with two years post registration experience, with cardiothoracic experience.
What can we offer?
- The area is supported by a team of Practice Development Nurses, who offer 1:1 clinical supervision, teaching and study opportunities.
- Support to attend conference / study days.
- Access to in-house band 6 leadership training and coaching skills.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
