Private Inpatient Coordinator - Guthrie Clinic

An excellent opportunity has arisen within International & Private Patient Services, for an enthusiastic and well-organised Private Inpatient Coordinator, based within a clinical and operational team.

The position will be on a full time basis i.e. 37.5 hours per week over five days, Monday to Friday, covering an 8 hour shift between the hours of 08.00- 17.30.

Working closely with the Patient Centre Manager, Patient Centre Co-ordinator, Matron, Nursing Team, Consultants, Purchasers and also members of the Administration and Finance team, you will support the private patient function by coordinating and facilitating all inpatient activities for private patients coming into the Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to develop within this exciting and challenging role. You must be able to prioritise work and have an understanding of, and commitment to, patient confidentiality. You will have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s at grade A-C or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics and have a keen eye for detail.

The successful applicant will be proficient in using all aspects of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to adopt a flexible working style and approach. The ability to work effectively within a busy and often pressurised team and to prioritise work in order to meet deadlines is essential. You will have experience in delivering excellent user-focussed services; have strong communication skills and work well under pressure.

A good team player, you will be happy working with a broad range of people with different skills and at all levels and be able to demonstrate that you can act on your own initiative.

You will work in conjunction with the existing Inpatient Coordinators and will oversee the registering of new patients, ensuring their details are correct and making accurate bookings for inpatient admissions. You will also ensure that all private patients have the necessary funding arrangements or authorisation from Insurance Companies in place, prior to admission. You will also update insurance companies regularly with clinical information in order to extend patient cover, should this be required. You will also assist in dealing with UK and Overseas referrals and these must be done in a timely manner.

You will be committed to your own personal development and a willingness to learn and develop new skills will be positively encouraged. You will become part of an expanding and enthusiastic team and will play an instrumental part in the smooth running of the private patient services.
