Urology LocumConsultant King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust The Princess Royal University Hospital Site 1Post (starting from March, 2018 or ASAP Fixed Term 6 Months) The Department of Urology at the Princess Royal University Hospital, a division of Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for enthusiastic and committed Urology Surgeon. The Princess Royal University Hospital Campus The Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), at Farnborough Common, Orpington, Kent is an acute district general hospital. It has 525 funded beds, and approximately 80,000 emergency attendances per annum. It serves a population of about 500,000 from Bromley and Bexley. The services currently provided include: Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Acute and General medicine with sub-specialities including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Acute Frailty Unit, Elderly Care , Intensive Care, Oncology, Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maternity and Paediatrics, Hyper acute and Acute Stroke services for provided for the South East Sector of London. The PRUH is a Level 2 Trauma Unit and a member of the TARN. Tertiary Specialities and services are supported from our Denmark Hill Campus The hospital is based in outer South East London in the London Borough of Bromley. The area provides fast public transport links into central London via mainline railway connections. The borough is a highly sought after area due to it many well-regarded primary and secondary schools .Bromley is a key leisure and retail destination within South London and regularly appears in the list of the annual top 50 places to live in the UK. It is also on the borders of the North Kent Downs and Sevenoaks Weald – areas of outstanding natural beauty. Road links are particularly strong to Surrey and Kent. There is access to the M25 via the A21 and the national motorway network onwards from Junction 5.Therefore city living or country retreats are all accessible for you and your family. The Post The appointed Urology surgeon will join a friendly and supportive team that works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team at the Princess Royal University Hospital. There may be opportunities for cross-site working between Denmark Hill site and the South sites, subject to agreement and needs. The post holder will participate in a 1:6 on call rota and will be working across PRUH Hospital where the emergency and elective procedures take place and all the outpatient services and clinic activities will be based at Beckenham Beacon. Applicants should have comprehensive experience and training in Urology. They should be competent in all aspects of core urology. The new appointee should be able to willing and able to develop an interest to complement the needs of the service. This is a full time post (10 Programmed Activities) with additional programmed activities available subject to negotiation with the successful candidate. Applicants should have a broad experience of Core Urological Surgery and must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of eligibility for inclusion. The successful applicant will join a team comprising in total of 6 Consultants, 7 middle Grades and 5 juniors. The post is replacement post to help the department continue to achieve a consultant delivered service across the broad range of urological disease and to meet all the separate elements of the 18 weeks and 2WW pathway targets.
