Team Lead Speech and Language Therapist – Short Stay Medicine, Denmark Hill Site

Band 7, 1.0 wte (37.5 hours per week)

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a large and busy teaching hospital across multiple sites, with a unique profile of strong local services and a focused set of specialist services. Based within the Therapies team, the Speech & Language Therapy department has over 40 staff providing inpatient and outpatient services across a wide and diverse range of specialities on our 3 main sites of Denmark Hill, Princess Royal University Hospital and Orpington Hospital.

As a result of an exciting new investment into short stay care, we are recruiting a band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to develop our services in A&E, the Clinical Decision Unit, a new Frailty unit and the Acute Medical Unit on our Denmark Hill site. The successful applicant will contribute to rapid and effective MDT decision-making of admissions and discharges. This will include close working with community colleagues. The post-holder will participate in the Acute SLT team 7-day rota.

The Acute Speech and Language Therapy team works closely with SLTs on all King’s sites and the wider multidisciplinary teams, with whom they are co-located. Led by the Head of Speech & Language Therapy and Band 8A/B Clinical Leads, the service offers an established supervision system, including action learning groups, plus a range of opportunities for learning and participation in both self and service development.
