Sister/Charge Nurse Critical Care

Band 7

Full Time 37.5 hours/week

The Critical Care Units at Kings’ College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (King’s) is seeking self-motivated, dynamic and assertive Critical Care nurses capable of making decisions in relation to both Level 2 and Level 3 patients. Each Unit cares for complex, critically ill patients from a variety of specialities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior nurse to advance existing clinical skills as well as being an excellent managerial learning opportunity.

There are currently 4 Critical Care Units at King’s (Denmark Hill site) and a new purpose built 60 bedded unit is due to open in summer 2018, giving you the exciting opportunity to be part of a world-class Critical Care Centre. The new Critical Care Units will open in addition to the current Critical Care Units at King’s, providing specialist care across all specialities for critically ill medical and surgical patients, including neurosurgery, neurology, trauma, orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiothoracic, cardiology, renal, liver and haematology.

Possessing exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills is essential to this role to be able to lead a team and have insight into team structure, dynamics and development. You will bring with you a proven track record of managing people, and have substantial experience at Band 6 in a similar clinical environment. You must have achieved a specialist course in Critical Care as well as a Mentorship qualification or equivalent, and ideally hold a UK recognised degree in Nursing (or equivalent) or be near completion of.

In return for your dedication and hard work, we offer well-established, structured teaching and staff development programmes for all staff. We are affiliated to King’s College, London, which provides a wide variety of modules that will lead to an MSc in Critical Care Nursing.  King’s offers relocation support if your new appointment requires moving from your current accommodation. Please feel free to ask a member of the recruitment team.
