Variety Children’s Hospital

Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine

10 PAs Full-Time

Applications are invited for this full-time post based at the Department of Child Health in the Variety Children’s Hospital at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT).  King’s College Hospital is a major London teaching hospital which has many tertiary paediatric specialist services and also provides general paediatric services for a large multi-ethnic inner city population.  KCHFT is part of London’s most comprehensive Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) (King’s Health Partners), along with King’s College London and Guys and St Thomas’ and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team with four other respiratory paediatricians at a regional paediatric respiratory and cystic fibrosis centre serving south London and the Southeast. The post-holder will work primarily within the Paediatric Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis Centre at KCHFT but there is potential for future outreach work in the Southeast region.  As services develop the job plan will be subject to review through annual team job planning. It is envisaged that the post-holder would have a research interest and eventually take leadership responsibilities for an area of the respiratory service depending on expertise and interests.

The successful applicant should be fully accredited in paediatrics with sub-specialty in respiratory paediatrics and have wide experience in all aspects of paediatric respiratory medicine.  There will be plentiful opportunities for research and the successful candidate would be able to apply for an honorary academic title appropriate to their research and teaching contribution within the AHSC. King’s provides excellent training for one grid trainee in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (PRM) on the London rotation and for a middle grade clinical fellow in PRM. There would be a significant commitment to research, teaching and training of junior staff.
