Cotton, a cardiovascular ward at King’s College Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, hardworking and self-motivated band 5 staff nurse to join our skilled and friendly team.

Cotton is a 26-bedded ward that provides care for vascular, cardiothoracic and cardiac patients at different stages of their diseases.  We receive patients for elective and emergencies procedures, from a variety of departments including A&E, critical care step-downs and directly from clinics.

The vascular team at King’s performs a variety of procedures including venous work and complex carotid endarterectomies and EVARs. We have 4 monitors on the ward for post-operative monitoring, offering specialist post op care to patients. The cardiac team provide care to all cardiac diseases and King’s has a Catheter Laboratory that supports our heart attack service. The cardiothoracic team perform surgery on elective and emergency patients.

The cardiovascular division at King’s College Hospital receives patients for across London and the South East of England.

King’s as an institution is committed to develop staff members and provides nurses access to a several educational resources. We have 2 PDN’s within the division and they work closely with staff. We also offer numerous courses from in house to modules at different universities.

Applicants will ideally have 6 months experience in an acute setting; however, we would also be interested in hearing from newly qualified nurses with an interest in cardiovascular.

Applicants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate and understanding of cardiovascular diseases and their management;
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Deliver high quality of care based on the Trust’s values;
  • Commit to work as a team and improve clinical practice
