Consultant Radiologist with Specialist Interest in Breast Imaging

Closing date: Thursday 7th February 2019 23:59

Applications are invited for this 10PA full time Consultant Radiologist with Specialist Interest in Breast (Screening and Symptomatic) Imaging at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT). This is a substantive consultant post at the King’s Denmark Hill site, but there may be a need to support cross-site service provision.

King’s College Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest in London, with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The hospital not only serves a diverse, multi-ethnic local population but operates as one of the four major trauma centres within the capital, a major trauma centre for Kent and as a tertiary services centre for neuroscience (including stroke), haematological oncology, cardiac / cardio-thoracic (including PAMI), cystic fibrosis, and hepatobiliary (including liver transplantation) patients.

The remit of this post will be to support the delivery of Breast Radiology, an integral part of the department of Radiology. Breast Radiology provides a breast imaging, assessment and diagnostic service for both the King’s symptomatic breast service and the South East London Breast Screening Programme (SELBSP).  It also receives tertiary referrals from other centres for diagnostic work up and image guided biopsy procedures. The Breast Radiology Department is one of the five designated National Breast Screening Training Centres for the NHSBSP and continues to provide specialist training in all aspects of screening and diagnosis to radiology, radiography and administration.

In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging departments, specifically supporting the acute pathway, while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups.

There is a requirement to participate in the diagnostic on call rota for the Denmark Hill site.

Applications for part time working will be considered.

The interviews will be on the morning of Thursday 21st February 2019
