Senior Biomedical Scientist- (Biochemistry)
An exciting opportunity has become available for an ambitious SENIOR BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST (Biochemistry) to practice their knowledge and skills and develop into the field of management. The department is reviewing and developing the roles of staff in a supportive format. As a senior Biomedical scientist you will be expected to lead the daily process of the workflow, delegating tasks and setting expectations, leading bench rounds and daily huddles, incorporating six sigma lean principles and process management in to a high throughput facility. You will be working with well trained staff in a laboratory equipped with new analysers and automation in a modern purpose built Pathology block. Some of the extra tasks will be cross discipline which can enhance personal development
The laboratory uses WinPath LIMS and Roche COBAS 8000 analysers
The Blood Sciences laboratory provides a high quality comprehensive clinical biochemistry, haematology, coagulation and transfusion services to Bedford Hospital NHS Trust and surrounding General Practices. In addition the department provides a porphyria service. This post holder will be expected to manage the day to day clinical chemistry department and take on additional responsibilities associated with a UKAS ACCREDITED LABORATORY
You will be working in a UKAS accredited laboratory performing approx. 3.7 million investigations per year. The laboratory also has IBMS training status for registration and specialist BMS training, and is actively training staff for their HCPC registration

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
