Junior Charge Nurse/Senior Sister - Medicine (Health and Ageing Unit)

Seven day working and internal rotation to night duty
Medicine: Denmark Hill site, Kings College Hospital

Are you interested in leading a team of committed, loyal and dedicated nurses in medicine?
Would your patients say you make them feel safe and they know your name? Would they say you advocate for them and ensure they are involved in decisions about their care?
Would those you work with describe you as a nurse who treats their colleagues with kindness and respect and role models the high standards of care?
Would you like to work where the matrons and Head of Nursing have a strong visible presence and are committed to listening to their nurses and supporting their development?

We have created more B6 opportunities in our wards and we are looking to recruit nurses who are excited by the idea of developing their leadership skills. You will need to be a nurse who is:

• Proud to specialise in care of older people
• Skilled and knowledgeable and can demonstrate a commitment to personal development
• A strong role model who has the courage to challenge and escalate if care is compromised
• Energised by motivating others and skilled in bringing out the best in those around you
• Committed to developing your leadership skills

To support your development within this role you will have access to regular coaching sessions from the senior Nursing team. The unit is also proud to be participating in the Early Careers in Healthcare of Older Adults (ECHO) programme, which launches at King’s College London in September. This is a fully funded course aimed at nurses who are keen to develop within the speciality.

Kings Health and Ageing wards:
The Health and ageing wards at kings are dedicated to maintaining compassionate and dignified care for some of the frailest patients within the Trust.
The unit has three 30 bedded mixed sex wards, Donne, Byron and Marjorie Warren .Each ward has a committed and experienced Multi-disciplinary team who pride themselves on delivering patient focused care and treatment.
