Highly Specialist Physiologist/Echocardiographer

King’s College Hospital is a renowned research institution in South East London and part of Kings Health Partners.

An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Clinical Cardiac Physiologist (Echocardiographer) Band 7, Fully Accredited/ Certificated in British Society of Echocardiography or a Band 6 Physiologist actively working towards British Society of Echocardiography Full Certified Accreditation, the Band 7 post will be awarded on successful attainment of accreditation.

This challenging role will be based primarily within Cardiac Diagnostics at the PRUH, but may involve cross site working and communication, undertaking and managing diagnostic physiologist duties and the staff, whilst providing leadership to the junior physiology and assistant staff

Ideally the successful candidate will be a Highly Specialist Clinical Cardiac Physiologist with specialist skills in Echocardiography to full BSE accreditation standard. The post will provide access to train or advance in 3D echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Valve Stress echo and expanding Echocardiographer led Transoesophageal and other specialist echocardiography services, along with participation in the one stop valve clinic, if deemed of sufficient standard.

If not fully accredited and certificated by the British Society of Echocardiography, the post will be offered at a band 6 level with support and training provided to allow attainment of certification and the band 7 post within two years.

Applicants must be able to obtain basic standard echocardiographic images and have underpinning knowledge in Echocardiography which will be assessed at interview.

Experience/qualifications in Cardiac Rhythm Management / Angiography and non-invasive cardiology would be beneficial.

In addition, there will be designated managerial, health and safety and educational responsibilities for the non-invasive suite and other areas of Cardiology Dependant on the successful candidates knowledge and previous experience.
